I have to say i was as surprised as anyone on what Matt Cutts had to say about Pagerank sculpting, for all those who have not heard this basicially it relates to the internal use of the “nofollow” attribute to control the flow of pagerank on a website.
So basically what we all though was the if i have 10 links on a page and i put the “nofollow” attribute on 5 links then the remaining 5 links would pass 2 points of Pr. But this is appartnely not the case, nor has it been for around a year! The links in question would only pass one point of PR and the remaining pr point would be wasted.
I have yet to find anyone who is happy with this and it dosent really make much sense to me, it has made me reconsider what links are on my homepage for example and instead of using the “nofollow” attribute i am looking at ways of using less links on a page.
